A parenting style is a range of child-rearing practices used by parents. Each parent develops their own method of dealing with their child. After understanding different parenting styles, I believe both of my parents used the same authoritative style. We learned that in an authoritative parenting style, parents are warmer, nurturing, responsive, supportive and communicative to their children (Santrock et al., 2022). They attempt to change their child’s undesirable behaviour by discussing, explaining rules and reasoning.
